Who are you and what do you do?
vavi_magdi is a group of two people that can expand through new collaborations. they are using the mind and body to create queer spaces within that sharing time and rituals operate as a social laboratory to blend art and activism that collectively generate new skills. vavi_magdi are in a progress of creating techniques and forms for their project ‘travelling through our senses’. they are travelling through their senses and collect, reflect and share what comes across. one technique is a collective blog: https://travellingthroughoursenses.wordpress.com/

When did you first start making art?
There is no starting point. everything is in motion and we are moving within it.

When you think of the word riot what comes to mind?
riots can cause human suffering and threaten peace or stability in diverse societies. But we’d like to use riot as a subversive strategy tool, which should affect positive impacts. so, for us rioting means to create a space, where we can make our uneasiness visible which we feel towards neoliberal and precarious structures. it’s a tool to point deep on capitalistic structures, which regulate all our relationships. capitalism ruins everyday activities and private relationships, making it difficult to associate and to collaborate. our riot-tool creates a practice of sensibilities as a strategy to shift the way how we treat each other and ourselves.

What drew inspiration for the artwork for this show?
Our work is inspired by the different techniques that we are creating and practicing everyday. As we are making ourself vulnerable and play with sensibilities it is important we have the time to reflect what is happening with our bodies and minds. that work came into existence as a need to find tools of expressions for our feelings and sensibilities that are operating against what we were taught by capitalistic structures. one of those tools is to explore the intersection of our sensual selves and the power of collective practices through sharing our thoughts. in this artwork for this show we want to make our relationship visible as a silent form of riot.
