lost boys 2
Who’s in the band and what do they play?
Caroline plays bass and sings, Quennton plays guitar and sings, and Mac beats on the drums. Sadie used to slam on a stand up kit, but her Athabaskan family whisked her away to Alaska.
When and how did you become a band?
We formed in 2013 up in our friend Connor’s attic as a four piece because we all had songs and wanted to play Rock & Roll. The lineup has lost a few and gained one but the idea is the same.
How did you decide on your band name?
We used to be Lost Boys, but of course, (even though that’s terrible name) there are a billion bands called Lost Boys. So after throwing around a million alternatives, including Butt Boys, we settled on Prude Boys. God knows why.
Tell us about your first show.
We played in Quennton’s old house in Ypsi at a party we threw. So since we brought a keg we actually had a good turn out. Beer and a crowd at your first show? Seemed like a success to us!
Can you describe your music?
SEX DRUGS AND ROCK N ROLL
What bands (or other things) are your influences/inspiration?
C: We all listen to an array of shit, but influences are hard to pin down. I like shit from Anita O’Day to Skeeter Davis to The Pleasure Seekers to The Shangrilas, but I also love Misfits of course, and Thee Headcoats. Who knows. There’s too much.
M: My influences are specific to different areas of my musical endeavors… But, currently lots of Billy Childish, Stones, Misfits,The Dicks, Oblivians, Jay Reatard,The Wipers, The Stooges, The Penetrators, Arthur Lee And Love,Johnny Thunders/Dolls.
Q: I mean we all listen to a lot of The Cramps, I go through phases. Big Star, Wu Tang, ODB, Motown, Northern Soul, Stax, old surf, Thelonious Monk, Misfits. And hell man, Mariah Carey, Dolly Parton. Shannon and the Clams too. Anything with a real good SONG behind it. We all love slews of movies and books and everything else, but aren’t you bored already?
Gear talk: instruments/pedals/amps
We have a 20 watt bass amp.
Who are your favorite Detroit bands?
Timmy. Danny. Frank.
What has been the biggest challenge of being a band in Detroit?
Being poor is shitty but at least we’re cute. *wink*! Xoxoxo
What do you want everyone to know about your band?
We’re kissin’ cousins.
